In September 2012, no one knew what the prospects/sales potential of the Wii U so I'm sure in Nintendo's eyes the investment in the game made sense, my guesstimate. Fast forward 3+ years and we have a clear picture that the audience, to me, is just not there, no matter what the internet forum goers say.
ZhugeEx mentioned to me that the numbers for this game, and the original, are greatly inflated. but we do know that Sega shipped 1.35million of the original in 2010 and Nintendo has yet to officially list numbers for this game.
