The game is an amazing couples co-op game, like, in my opinion one of the best you can find so both myself and my wife are both happy to pick up a handful of figures from each new game.

Keep in mind Skylanders has been going for a good few years now, Spyros Adventure, Giants, Swap Force, Trap Team and Superchargers

5 games, 2 people playing it that just works out at 10 figures each per game, of course not all of the Skylanders are playable figures too.

They sell DLC stages too which come in the form of NFC figures and they are rather detailed for a dlc stage!

We have 6 of those Stages over the games, 3 additional Battle arenas (more or less the same thing) and about 10 magic items like drop in potions or so which give you a fast boost during a stage for hard fights and such.

I know you just played infinity but Skylanders works in a fairly easy way, each toy basically has 1 life for a stage, so if you have your fav figure and you get killed you either have to play as another dude, restart the stage or go to the local toy store and buy more figures (lives) the same works for the magic items, each of them has a certain time for the effect so when you drop it on the portal say... the potion heals for about 40 seconds, both skylanders who are on the portal with it, but you can drop it on for 10, get a quick top up and pull it from the portal saving the other 30 secs that stage for a later fight if you think you might get food before that would happen.

It really is a great system in terms of managing your characters during harder stages and for Activision to sell loads of figures!

How exactly is this a two player game? Is it actually two players or the wife does all the character swapping from the portal? 😋 I didn't really bother to check while I was playing.

Well buddy, you did it to me now. Over the past week I've spent $200 on used sets on eBay. About 80 characters, some portals and games. Spend about $100 at Gamestop for some odds and ends to finish sets. They are currently running a buy 2 get 3 free deal on used skylander/infinity. About $100 at Toys R us sale last week for buy 1 get 2 free on lightcores. Also a few supercharger characters and vehicles for $11 each and $10 off a $40 purchase. An additional $100 on traps, from wherever I can find them. These bitches are hard to find anywhere. Especially the undead and fire. Dark and light are pretty much impossible unless you are willing to spend for them.

At any point while playing it have someone press A on controller two, instantly turns into a co-op game, also it's great if they need to check on something or head away because if they remove the skylander they are using from the portal they can press B at the portal screen to drop out again, you can also have a second player drop in and the first player drop out, it really is fantastic the way the co-op in it is so seemless, no leaving the game, menus or anything, just someone else drop a second skylander on the portal and press A to join you.

The way the games handle the 2 figures on screen is all slightly different but mostly involves the same mechanic, it is full screen co op so you can't go too far from each other without rubber banding back in, and in trap team if you fall off something you get ported next to each other fairly quickly, can make some platforming parts in Trap team very tough, one time we just had to have one player sit out for a piece which was just too hard with the rubber band effect pulling us out of the air mid jump pad.

Can imagine your collection looks pretty cool already... I wonder if you have noticed anything about the toy figures! Something I only seen myself before Xmas but on checking it was something they've had on them since 2011, Just, if you got a shelf where the toys all are lined up take a look at them tonight when you're heading towards bed! After the lights are off! (literally took me 5 years to notice it) Also you mentioned having issues getting the light dark traps, those came with a pack ... more a base expansion for the game, tis a strange one but I'm not sure if they are a special circumstance to be able to use them in trap team, they cost a fortune here so I never bought into it, just the 8 base element traps for me.... and KAAOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, because well.... Kaos!

Oh! Side note, if you are using an early version of the portal of power (pre swap force) and you go into co-op mode in a later game, you can't actually co-op while one person is using a swap force figure (the ones in 2 halves) Each portion of those figures counts as an NFC figure and the original portals were not designed to transmit the data of 3-4 skylanders figures at the same time... old portals work fine for the new games and figures while single player tho... just not co op!
