Hell, if I had played V II or III more recently (played them like 10 years ago) then they might be ahead of VII as well. I just did not care at all for that one as it compares to the others. It is a good game, but probably the second most overrated game of all time behind OoT imo.
FFVIII I liked more because I felt like there was a genuine connection between the characters. All of the interactions in FFVII seems poorly put together and forced to me. Even with the silly amnesia reasoning in FFVIII I felt like Rinoa and Squall always made sense.
