If you go online you can find 'heisigs remembering the kanji' just download the pdf, it gives great stories on remembering kanji and teaches you in optimal order so instead of teaching you something like 髪 straight away you learn small kanji and then bigger ones are just made up of smaller kanji.
For example 口 to 日 to 目 to 月 and 明 etc. I'd find the link for you but I'm on my phone in a Subway and about to go to work.
