The other consoles are targeting the modern mainstream gamer; that is, 12-30 year old males. Nintendo on the other hand insists on chasing the 1990s ideal of a "family friendly" console with a primarily E-rated library, despite the fact that this is no longer what the mainstream wants in 2016. They cannot compete head-on with Xbox and Playstation unless they learn from those systems and adapt to today's market. |
I'm pretty sure Wii U had Call of Duty: Black Ops II/Ghosts, Assassin's Creed III/IV, Madden, FIFA, NBA 2K, Batman: Arkham City/Origins, Darksiders II, Tekken Tag 2, Ninja Gaiden 3, Mass Effect 3, Resident Evil: Revelations, Need for Speed, The Walking Dead, Sniper Elite V2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate all in the first year. I don't think lack of games aimed at 12-30 year males was a factor.
