You're playing the tutorial section. It gets slightly more normal afterwards (i.e. less handholding).
I will say that the game isn't for everyone and it's totally understandable to not like it. However, the game is only 6-7 hours long so as long as you don't actively dislike it, it's worth persisting a little as the payoffs are huge in story and mechanics development.
Oh, and the soundtrack gets far, far better than that.
