Exclusives are good for the industry because of a few reasons. One, they're usually the highest quality and highest rated games. Two, they foster great competition and three, they give each platform an identify. What would Genesis have been had they not had more adult, edgy titles than SNES? Just another SNES... only black?
Exclusives make this industry exciting and give everyone something to discuss. Sure, there's some people out there that are just a tad bit too emotionally invested but it's a small price to pay imo.
