If we take the average between SM3DL and SM3DW (because it's two games vs. one in the sixth gen), 3D Mario sales have increased.
Super Smash Bros. 4's 11.5m is a bigger number than Melee's 7m.

Combining Wii U and 3DS against GCN alone is hardly a fair comparison.
