Probably more. I thought digital was really good because of the shortages. Either way MHX is a beast and is beating expectations.

The ps4 sold more software at retail last year than the Wii U and I'd imagine digital is significantly higher. Japan players also get 2 games a month if they have ps plus.
It's just the Wii U has its install base buying a select few where as the ps4 has it spread over a lot of titles.
So despite a lower install base ps4 players play more.
