Depends.  If the NX doesn't do well, Sony/Microsoft fanboys will say yes -- it is directly competing.   If the NX does well, they'll give complete credit to the handheld portion and rationalize that it's because Nintendo doesn't have any competition in that market.  Personally I think a unified library would make a Nintendo handheld or console successful because a lot of Nintendo fans (especially this generation) have been longing for one Nintendo device that had access to Nintendo's complete library.



Hmm, I also do wonder if the NX is split, will people buy both or will they buy only one of them, as well as if it would be alright of the sales skewed to one device over the other? It would seems a bit of a waste if only one of the 2 ended up selling well. Would seem like the other was a bit of a waste of them.

Well, as long as the NX is successful enough, I guess that is fine enough?

 



I think with a unified library and a universal Nintendo account, Nintendo would not care how much each device sold as long as you're a part of their ecosystem buying software.
