I'm not a huge Zelda fan, but the ones I liked the most:

Yeah, I like how it is a mix between RPG and 2D platform.

Yeah, the concept of Zelda 2 is great! It's a bit of a shame that Nintendo didn't revisit it the same way Konami did with Castlevania after the massive failure of Castlevania 2. Zelda 2 in comparison was much better accepted at the time than Castlevania 2.

I feel like side scrolling just doesn't fit the series!

But that's only because you are used to a certain paradigm, not that it isn't fitting.

A Zelda game similar to Shovel Knight with more of a Zelda spin would be fantastic.
