PS4 is always on and always up to date, and I don't have to go to another room or location. I know my situation is not the same as most, but my PC was always shut down, so anytime I would use it just to surf the web, it would need to do Nvidia Updates, Steam Updates, EA Access Updates, Windows Updates, Norton updates, and on, and on, and on. It just became such a hassel to use, I just stopped using it all together. The only things I miss from the PC is the PDF support, and the ability to have more than 3 windows open. |
Hmm, must be because you hardly ever use it. I've had two Nvidia driver updates (with a third pending), one AVG update and only a handful of windows update that required a restart (and even then you can update as you turn it off for the night) since I bought my new rig in July. Steam updates, Origin, GOG and similar things are always automatic for me so I hardly even notice that they happen. Surfing and generally doing anything desktop or gaming related is lightning quick for me (then again, I have SSD discs both for games and system and some ridiculous hardware).
Do you per chance have old windows and a really slow laptop? My laptop is terribly slow with updates most of the time. The first thing you want to do when getting a laptop is uninstalling absolutely everything the manufacturer installed on it from scratch since it mostly serves no purpose and slows down windows a great deal.
If one spends a lot of time on the console and prefer the interface, I could see your points for sure, but on average I find it difficult to believe that browsing on consoles is more convenient, especially more so than a mobile laptop or a computer that actually works like it's supposed to.
