It sux that Panny and Samsung don't do plasmas anymore. I bought a Panny 50" 720p plasma almost 5 years ago for a mere $550+ tax, and it's stellar for gaming and has a better picture than most 1080p LCD / LED sets. They were probably the best line of HDTVs aside from the legendary Pioneer Kuro line.
We bought a 60" Samsung 1080p plasma a couple years ago for the living room when they started getting reduced in price, and the picture is almost as good as the Panny line, but it does emit a noticeable buzzing sound especially when the images on screen are all white or really bright.
If I had to buy another TV today, I'd probably go with the Samsung 55" 4K LED model that Best Buy has on sale this week for under a grand.
