O_o... Link didn't start with his tunic in Skyward Sword, Wind Waker, or I think Twilight Princess.
And Skyward Sword is basically an origin. It explains *spoilers* that Zelda is a human incarnation of the Goddess Hylia, Link her chosen warrior, Ganondorf a reincarnation of Demise, and the origin of the master sword. Even says how Hyrule was born.
