This is why it is good to have more releases overall catering to many tastes. A mere fraction of any combonation based on personal taste from the PS4 exclusive library in comparison to the entire X1 exclusive offering will usually result in PS4 winning everytime in 2016. There are exceptions sure, but this year will be very one sided in most cases in favor of PS4. Just sayin. ;)
BTW I am not attacking your post. I like my X1, but I just felt like making this point and yours happend to be the perfect one to quote a reply to. =P

Except the average Metacritic score for PS4 exclusives is higher than that of the average score of XB1 exclusives. So it's not just quantity, it's also quality.

I didn't even mention quality. Execution is different, not better or worse. Some traits that the critics and a lot of people see as negatives might draw in other people? The assist thing that everyone bashed? I loved it, less checkpointing...
I like Roland Emmerich movies and a lot of other people do too, they are rather low on Metacritic though...

See, you say execution and quality are different, but quality would include the execution as part of the reviews. And instead of giving an example or explanation of how execution and quality are different, you go off on a tangent about how sometimes the things that reviewers bash are things you like.
And we're not discussing movies. Movies are a different medium that requires zero input from the viewers, whereas games cannot advance without it. Games also require degrees of skill, understanding, reasoning, and hand-eye-coordination.
