Do you know how many species have reached extinction and have left little marks on history besides their existence? (Them larger than us) The reason we believe ourselves to be more than what we art is because of our ego. We're an intelligent species that also have emotions that much like our parentage wonder if something made us for a purpose or cares for us. All we know is that we are born, we exist for a time and we die. On a scientific level we find a habitat that is habitable and sustain ourselves while we increase in population and consume (and maintain) resources. Soon earth will be too small for us. You will find this to be true as you realize our outer-earth driven endeavors continue to move not just beyond our neighboring planets, satellite bodies, and systems but also other galaxies. The greatest concrete answers will come when we find out we are not alone. If we do....all our religious texts will put to the test as to whether they are valid or not. Chances are once we find out.... they wont be. |
My son and I were having this very conversation this morning (we like to just have generalised chats sometimes), and we both concluded exactly the same thing as you have posted :)
