- YouTube user and Zelda content provider HMK came with a theory that we may be about to see an origin story from Link in the upcoming WiiU Zelda game
- without much info released by Nintendo on the title, the user used trailer footage to explain this theory
- he comes to this conclusion by combining manga details with video evidence

- Design & Trends website lists some of these points in the theory:
1) Of chief importance is the most recent clip shown during a Nintendo Direct late last year. In the few seconds we have available, Link is seen wearing an ambiguous outfit with a blue shirt, white pants and brown boots. He also sports what looks like Gerudo bracers and a Sheikah cloak.
As for why this would point to an origin tale, it's worth noting that the Gerudo are often linked to the classic "Legend Of Zelda" villain, Ganondorf. Why would our protagonist have gear related to his nemesis unless the game takes place before that feud began? The Sheikah are also an ancient historical race as well, which means time is likely to play some role in the story.
2) Above all, however, is the detail that Link isn't wearing his trademark green hero tunic. Maybe "The Legend Of Zelda" Wii U happens before that franchise mainstay exists. The upcoming Link might be a mere adventurer instead of a hero.
This thought is buttressed by the fact that the game's map has repeatedly been referred to as the series' largest one to date. Yet, in the slow drip of coverage, Nintendo officials have never actually called the locale Hyrule. While landmarks exist to prove we're in that location, players might arrive there before that namesake was adopted. This would also explain why the area is so big. It has yet to be ravaged by the wars that lie ahead.
3) The theorist even brings his concept around to E3 2014's debut teaser. In that footage, Link encounters a large creature that bears a striking resemblance to the ancient robots of Lanayru from "The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword." His thought is that maybe this large enemy is a precursor to those time-based foes.
How likely?
Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:
