It's really impressive how it could beat San Andreas. San Andreas was "basically" a PS2 console exclusive game, everyone played it there, and the thing was on the freaking PS2, and V was also selling like crazy on the 360, and also came to sell like crazy on PS4 and XBO... I'm completely sure the number of people who played SA on a PS2 is well over the number of people who played V on a PS3, simply because of piracy, if those pirated copies where accounted... well, well over 30M, without a single doubt.

Gta V has digital too so it will also be higher.

If I recall it right when we were getting numbers about GTA V it was all included and VGC numbers were close to that, so I can assume what we have here is a good representation of both retail AND digital combined, not only retail. Even so, it wouldn't reach the number of people who played SA on a PS2. Every single person I know that play video games played at least a bit of SA on a PS2, and at the same time I also don't know a single person who actually owned an original copy of that game God of War PS2 games, specially the first, was also another game that was a phenomenum of piracy around here, nobody owned it but most people have played it. Another one would be Resident Evil 4.
Anyway, sales are what we can could, so damn impressive for GTA V to beat it, it also sold a shit ton in every other system it got and still did it PS3 alone.

Good point. You're probably right!
