Not really because he's talking about fiscal years and quarters. If I'm not wrong (and if that's the case, someone please correct me) fiscal years start in April and that means that October, November and December would be part of the 3rd quarter of a fiscal year. Also, in Japan the fiscal years (FY) are named by the year they end, so the 2017 FY starts in April 2016 and ends in March 2017. |
If this is the case, the system would still not have been out a full year.
But let's just assume he was talking about 5 months after release (March 2017) to start tracking the NX's profitability to March 2018, that seems like a really strange time to do that. The release 5 months (especially during the holidays) would be a better glimpse of how desirable a console is than a consoles 6 months until the first price drop. That is when the stride of new consoles tend to significantly slow down.
I can force this to make sense, but in all honesty it really doesn't.
