Why not!? We can say that 720p/60fps is standard for Wii U because most of Wii U games works at 720p/60fps and we even have Smash Bros that running at 1080p/60fps, so they probably will go for 1080p/60fps with NX home console same they go for 720p/60fps with Wii U.

More like, why? The PS4 and X1 struggle to achieve that now, there's on a handful of titles that do, and even with optimization and familiarity with the hardware, this may be a benchmark that is only achieved regularly at the latter end of the generation. So why would Nintendo shoot for a standard that even its competition isn't really acheiving? What's the benefit? If they want the NX to be successful, it has to be affordable, and by that I mean so much cheaper than a PS4/X1 that people will practically impuse buy it. If you want an affordable console, it means it has to have cheaper hardware, and that means less power.

I don't care if Smash Bros pulled it off on the Wii U. Gran Turismo also pulled it off on the PS3, yet it's still a challenge for the PS4 to pull it off. Just can pull it off in this one game, with this one particular engine, and this one particular graphics style that lends itself to less complicated rendering so that the resources are available to actually achieve this does not mean mean that this should be something that Nintendo should strive to achieve for every game

Because Nintendo doesn't make graphicly very hungry power games, like I wrote, with Wii U they pushed 720p/60fps like standard for their games, they can definitely make standard 1080p/60fps for their NX games with XboxOne similar power.
