Well, let's take a look at release dates for the past consoles(for US, cause 'Murica matters most):
Wii U: November 18, 2012
Wii: November 19, 2006
gamecube: November 18, 2001
N64: September 29, 1996
SNES: August of 1991
NES: October 18, 1985
The past 3 consoles were released close to each other. Either they're taking their time and hope to release it at Q3 2016, or they are REALLY taking their time and hope to release it at the end of 2017.
However, if neither way is done, they may choose to not release their next system in November. Perhaps early 2017 if late 2016 isn't done.
