Semantically speaking yes, but there is a big difference between making something to draw attention, and making a desirable product.

 

OK and using ur example, Wii with its motion controls was a desirable product, it offered new ways to play and allowed millions of people who previously weren't interested in gaming to play. Whether or not u believe it was a fad doesn't matter, Wii was a desirable product that sold over 100 million units of software and close to a billion units os software.
