If the rumors are true then I think a unified software library and the ability to play all your games on the big screen or on the go would be gimmick enough.  I do hope they use those scrolling shoulder buttons like on that patent though because it would add a lot of convience in gameplay.

Aaaaaaaaannnnd that would be the death of the NX.

There are only 2 ways that works and both of them are failures.

1. It's just a handheld with remote play for the home console. If that's the case, nobody cares. It's not an effective gimmick to attract attention to the system. Remote play is old news.

2. The power gap between the handheld and the home console is fairly small, small enough to allow them to play nearly the same games. This means that either the home console is weak, or the handheld is expensive, maybe both.

If the console is weak than so be it, as long as it has a strong and effective marketing campaign, a nice price point for what the device offers and a large library of compelling software than it can be a successful device without being a powerhouse.
