So, things I would have changed.

Not crushed everything into one movie.  Elements of these movies should have been in spread out throughout the 3 movies.  It's fine if you want an ultra Death Star, but save it for the last movie.  Have it where the Empire had started building it in the beginning of their reign, but abandonned it in favor of a smaller, mobile Death Star.  Ren should have been searching for it and trying to get it operational.

And the NO shouldn't have been so large and established.  It really should have been Kylo Ren in charge of a small faction starting to rebuild the Empire.  Taking over whatever remnants remained.  No Snoke.  As far as him being Han's son, I could go either way.  If not, have him an ancient Sith who wants revenge for the death of the Emperor.  It would explain the crudeness of his saber.  If so, save the reveal of him being his son til the end of the first movie.  I also think his face should have been a little more messed up, cause when he takes off the mask and it's an untouched Adam Driver, it takes away from his character.  Makes him seem more like a poser.

If Rey was going to be a Jedi, show her being able to tap into into the Force a little while she is living on her own.  Moving little things with a decent amount of effort.  Or her subtley changing peoples minds without really knowing she's doing it.  And if you want her being able to take on Ren in a lightsaber battle, have someone train her.  Maybe even Finn.  He was a Stormtrooper, so he must have been given weapons training.  Or actually have Luke around, since it is out of his character to have abandoned everyone, including his sister and best friend, to live on some island while they had to deal with the New Order.   Or have Finn the Jedi.  Former Stormtrooper turned Jedi has definitely not been done before.
