Really? I liked that Kylo was basically an anti-Vader. He was unhinged and rash where Vader was cool and collected nearly all of the time. It would have been lame to have just another Vader with a different name.
Plust I liked his fighting style. It was powerful but not particularly well honed, it will be interesting to see if it tightens up in the later movies.
Edit: I will also say that I personally liked most of the new characters. I liked Fin, I really liked Po (Hope we see more of him in VIII and IX), I am a bit cold about Rey though. Not because she seemed to be good at everything, it's Star Wars, the main character is always OP, she was just a little dry.
