Actually, the NX has to be way easier todevelop for than the ps4/Xbox one in order to win back third parties. Even if the NX is easy to work with, I anticipate the audience and install base to be an issue, therefore Nintendo needs to further incetivise third parties, not just match the competition.

and yeah, I think a lot of third parties are gonna put out low risk games to test the water. if you burnt your friends in the past (wii u) don't expect them to be friendly the next time you see them

A better selection of the games they bring to the system will help. If the audience buys colourful games and RPGs, bring Grow Home and Cild of Light instead of the next AC. Some games will sell no matter what, like the FIFAs, but if one kind of audience has proven profitable on the system, catter to them first before pulling the plug. After Splatoon, I'm sure EA would like to bring Plants VS Zombies to the NX (if they bother to properly support the console this time). Activision will continue with Skylanders because it's successfull on the WiiU (and they could even add some cross compatibility with amiibos). Ubisoft has Rayman, and that sold well on the system, so it would be plausible to bring it to the NX. Companies less focused on family-friendly games might not be supportive at first, but if Xenoblade Chronicles X sells well, it may attract a couple of ports from Bethesda or T2.

But I'm sure the support Nintendo really wants from beginning to end, is the eastern publishers. Those companies supported and kept the Vita alive in Japan (and basically everywhere else), so they are crucial to fuel at least the NX handheld. With the Vita not getting a successor, it looks like the NX will have to compete only against the mobile market, and that may change if the mobile strategy Nintendo is following gets integrated on their hardware. Imagine all the games the NX could suddenly get if those companies port their Vita games to the NX, decent 3rd party support for a couple of years.

Interesting ideas for expanding the audience, but they are only small things that will help. Family focused games arent too bad (Nintendo is basically gauranteed just dance, skylanders, and rayman), EA is the only issue with FIFA and P vs Z support.

But in order for the mature third party to comeback, 1 or 2 good games aren't enough (otherwise bayonetta 2 would have made third party games comeback).

Nintendo needs 3 things:

1) Crazy easy development tools - it has to be easy and cost effective to port for the NX. Publishers have to think "We may as well port to NX since its cheap and easy money" instead of "make the ps4 version THE place to play"

2) Better communication with third parties - no. 1 reason why bethesda never gave the wii u a chance, big reason why publishers liked working with the ps4.

3) Third party exclusives - games to associate Nintendo with to expand their audience. When people say bayonetta, they now think of Nintendo. This needs to be the case with more highly rated mature IP (xenoblade is also good).
