He's likable to comic book types because he has a purple lightsaber. Ooooh. Ahhh. There's NO FREAKING CHARACTER there in the prequels. What's his personality? None. Nada. I felt so freaking bad for Sam Jackson, he looked like a deer in the headlights in those movies, there's *nothing* in those scripts for him to work with at all. Nothing. Dude was on a blue screen set talking to a tennis ball, being directed by someone who has no idea how to direct human beings and it showed. In first movie he just sits down the entire time through 2 BORING dialogue scenes. Movies aren't video games were characters are "cool because they teh power ddoooood". This is not how story telling works, that's not what makes normal human beings relate to a character. |
The problem , like I said before, is that you care for uninteresting character like Fynn because you can relate to them. Mace Windu became popular with the star wars fanbase and you fail to understand why.
His characters, one of the most powerful jedi master, able to defeat the emperor in a lightsaber duel, meant a lot for people caring about the SW universe. Your garbage emo characters like Kylo Ren adn Fynn doesn't.
When your main characters are a weak and emo teeanagers in tears as the villain and an useless average dude as the co-hero, you know you have a problem.
