@ bolded It was quite clear that the Jedi had mythical stories being told about them from the past. It's not totally unexpected that Rey would attempt the mind trick after hearing it in passing and coming to the realisation she may have some ability with the Force after the Lightsaber incident. I also think she had Jedi training when she was younger but left on Jakku to keep her in hiding. My suspicion is she is the last survivor of Luke's Jedi training group but that she was too young to consciously recall being trained in some of the basics. OT: Finally saw it yesterday. Personally I think pople are being too harsh on the film. I thought it did a perfectly good job of giving a nod to the originals whilst introducing a new cast and effectively passing the torch. It was a great way of leading up to the next two films. A lot of the complaints I've read on this suggest you should never have liked Star Wars in the first place as the same complaints can be levelled at any of the films. It was handled a lot better than the prequels which each had a number of rediculously cringy moments. |
The problem is that the new characters are really bland and unintesresting.
Kylo Ren is a joke compared to Vador. It's not even close.
