What effect will the Tomb Raider Timed exclusive deal have on the series in the long run

Tomb Raider 2013 kinda became Uncharted... but it has things Uncharted lacks.  Tomb Raider 2013 and ROTTR actually have satifying exploration and better combat. Don't get me wrong, the melee stuff in Uncharted is pretty rad. But the gallery shooter, bullet sponge stuff is mind numbing.

Tomb Raider lost its identity to compete with the franchise that stole its thunder. Satisfying? Up to the individual. The original Tomb Raider series "satisfied " me in ways neither Uncharted nor the new Tomb Raider series does. Easy puzzles? Neither Tomb Raider 2013 and ROTTR's are very challenging. Much like Uncharted's - simple. 

However, if I had to choose, Uncharted blows the new Tomb Raider away in a number of key ways. From production values, to storytelling. 

But I'd argue Tomb Raider's pre 2013 sucked and reflected interest dying in that series. Tomb Raider 2013 was a great game and became the best selling Tomb Raider ever. The game you say has no identity is arguably the best game of the genre, atleast in gameplay.

I'd give the story telling edge to Uncharted, that's also what makes The Last of Us great. Frankly, it felt like I was playing those Naughty Dog games so I could see the next cutscene.

With Tomb Raider though, I genuinely enjoy the gameplay. Imagine that, actually enjoying the gameplay in a video game!
