For Ren to not pop like a balloon when hit, means that his armor is very strong or he managed to lower the impact with the force. Either way, to be able to fight after being hit is incredible.

When you have so many cases of "It was the force that allowed this unexplainable thing to happen", the movie becomes unbearable.

Then it was the armor.

My point is, Ren was not 100% when he fought Rey/Finn. It is not unusual for him to lose that fight after being hit by the unholy son of a crossbow and a blaster. In fact is miracle that he could stand at all.
