Wii U and 3DS games in 2016

As for 3DS, it's five years old and Nintendo has already did everything that they could with the system. All I know is that another game for Pokemon's sixth generation (or possibly seventh gen) will be announced sometime this year in part of the 20th anniversary of the franchise.

 

No Pokemon generation has ever gone without it's 3rd game, so 7th gen this year is not a possibility when X2Y2/Z still needs to happen. The 3DS hasn't sold well enough to warrant 2 generations on it, and this is likely it's last year before the NX releases, so it only makes sense to put 7th gen on NX rather than keeping Pokemon stuck on 3DS for years into the NX's life. Ya ya, 5th gen on DS cut into the 3DS's life, but 4th gen's 3rd game was already out, 3DS is backwards compatible while NX may or may not be, and the DS was their most successful system ever, 2 gens was well deserved.

Yeah, this next Pokemon game will probably be part of sixth gen most likely. Plus, we already have the XY&Z anime already 10+ episodes in and the story already starting to pick up to the possible theme of the next game. Not to mention the next movie coming out this summer.
