I'm about 2 hours in (Chapter 4) and have some questions if someone wouldn't mind indulging me.

- Once you 'join' characters so they get the performance boost when close to each other, are you free to change that at any time should you not like the combo or is it permenant? Supports can be erased and restarted. If you get an A support between 2 characters, change them to support other people, and later want them to support each other again... you have to start over.

- When there is two (or more) characters vs one does the lone attacked character suffer defense penalties? For example in other RPGs (Buldar's Gate) if your warrior and thief attack the same person, and the person counters the warrior, the thief gets to attack vs a much reduced defense. The thief also gets to backstab... FE seems to treat each attack as if that was only attack against said character. Not very realistic. There are no penalties for being attacked by multiple characters at a time.

- I set the game to Easy since I'm a FE noob, but now I'm breezing through every battle without any character being at risk of death at all. It's still early in the game so will the battles get harder or can I switch mid-game to Normal or Hard or do I have to start a new game to goto a harder difficulty level? I did the same when I tried Easy difficulty. There will be a couple challenging maps on the Easy difficulty, but really it will be a piece of cake. It is easy after all. I'd suggest finishing the game and doing Normal difficulty for your replay. I found that I could power my way through easy maps that had been somewhat tricky on normal so the difficulty difference is pretty noticeable.  If you really want to restart, first play until you hit the end of Part 1 before making that decision.  If the difficulty is still too easy by that time, restart.

Loving the game so far.

Btw, the first question is answered by one of the in-game tutorials on supports.
