Why do people think that Nintendo could go or should go third-party?

Then why didn't Sony and MS abandon hardware and join Nintendo on Wii and DS?  Your logic dictates they should.

PS3 sold 80+ million not stuggled to 13m like Nintendo with the wiiu, a bit of a difference there.  And truthfully Sony sucks at making handheld games, what benefit would that be to them to go the ds route ?  Especially Since day one their profits came from 3rd party sales on their platform.  

None of you have a even remotly decent counter argument to Nintrendo quality software on 200million strong and only growing bigger and stronger user base.
