Didn't Nintendo ask Criterion to make a F-Zero game for the WiiU's launch? I wouldn't be surprised to see a F-Zero game get announced in the following 5 years, specially with all the references in Mario Kart 8!

The only thing Nintendo has to do is to buy/hire Shin'en and to give them a bunch of cash...
