No, not at all. Unless they were lying, Nintendo confirmed that there was no Metroid game in development at this past E3 event.. Even if they started development on one out of desperation late into the year, they're not going to talk about it in 2016. Unlike much of the industry today, Nintendo usually doesn't talk about games that have more than a year of development left. In fact, the only reason we heard about a lot of this year's releases in 2013 was because Nintendo expected those games to be finished sooner than they were, but they weren't because of Nintendo's workload of developing for 3DS and Wii U and because Nintendo's own developers were still getting adjusted to HD development.
If they started development on a Metroid game this year, I wouldn't expect to hear about it until 2017 and it will most likely get a 2018 release.
