I only got to play the enhanced version from Super Mario Advance. From that version, I enjoyed it for what it is (even though it took me a LOOONNNGGGG time to finish it). I appreciate that it's the first game to play as Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad in one game, which would be something that 3D World would follow. Having each character have specific traits was nice (even though it was basically copy and paste from the Doki Doki Panic characters). I liked the challenge 2 provided, though Advance really made the game a little easier compared to the original. Plus, we were also introduced to characters such as Shy Guys and Birdo who became staples in the Mario franchise. While fundamentally different as a platformer compared to it's predecessor and future successors, Super Mario Bros. 2 (or USA) is still a good game in its own right.
