That claim is even worse. No forum goers are your average "casual" movie goer? The fact that you visit *any* forum excludes you from being an average movie goer? I'd argue the majority of forum goers are your average moviegoers. Sheesh. It's not like because you are passionate about gaming you chamge your movie-watching habits. Either it must be that:

a) People who eventually sign up for *any* forum have never been the average movie goer, because of their generally high interest for gaming/politics/hunting/music/etc.

Or b) When you sign up for a forum, you automatically change your movie watching habits because god knows why.

Neither makes particularly much sense to me though.

I am a cinephile who goes to the theater very rarely: I saw Star Wars and maybe 3-4 other films in theaters, but I probably saw 200-300 films overall. There's a pretty good chance that this is not the profile of the average VGC user, because it's a Venn diagram that has no real reason to overlap. Video games are not music are not films, and I am sure you will find many users on music and film forums that have a passing (read "casual") interest in video games. If they've decided to spend their time on another forum, it's because they have a greater vested interest in that forum's topics.

Having said that, I've seen Episode VII and will probably see it once or twice more in theaters. As far as Avatar 2 is concerned, I may just wait for a Blu-Ray release. Why? EVERY movie uses and/or abuses 3D now, and the novelty aspect has gone the way of the Wii motion controls: everyone wanted to see what the deal was and quickly got it out of their system. Avatar was not a great movie; it was entertaining, but the acting, script, and story were all okay to good. Moon also came out in 2009 and was leagues better, as were 500 Days of Summer and Crazy Heart. Nothing really stands out about Avatar, other than the 3D aspect, which is why many people who saw the first have no signficant vested interest in the second. Barring some unexpected revelation, I think we need to mute out expectations for Avatar 2.
