Monster Hunter Tri is third party also, and Skylanders Giants and Swap Force have also been out for years, but have not sold as much as Monster Hunter.

Skylanders swap force and trap team are almost at monster hunter tri sales. Unfortunately for skylanders, it can cannibalizes it's own sales with annual releases, however skylanders as a series is significantly greater on the wii u than monster hunter. Skylanders is the only third party up to have nintendo exclusive support whereas monster hunter 4 wasn't ported to the wii u. Big reason for this
