People don't seem to have a clue about how little threat this actuall posed to security. The most valuable things revealed by this incident are probably email addresses, the last four numbers of credit card numbers, and the last four numbers of phone numbers (potentially the full number, if you knew where to look). You almost need to be a wizard to make use of such information. In practice, for almost any affected users, this is a nuisance at worst. No one could see anything you can't see in your own profile anyway. Do you see anything critical anywhere in your profile? Me neither.

Valve's communication about this absolutely sucked and the incident itself was bad, but blowing this out of proportions is not good either. This incident poses practically no threat to anyone.
