Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze by a country mile.
It may lack ambition and graphical oomph, but its tight controls, clever and dynamic level design, challenging but fair difficulty, and sublime soundtrack make it an absolute pleasure.
It's not the best showcase of Retro's abilities, but it demonstrates that even their cruise control is better than most developer's A-game.
