You do realise that VR will suck for some traditional play styles and genre's right? The suggest that there is something wrong with some genres not working well with Wii Remote and nun-chuck and then herald Sony for beating Nintendo to the punch on something even more dramatic that will even moreso not suit certain genres is a little unfair don't you think? In terms of Nintendo and VR. I think before Nintendo tries that again they will wait for the technology to mature a little bit more. It's not something that's gonna have a massive install base within a couple of years because it's one step more antisocial then gaming with a headset on. And it's also really expensive to release a system that's capable of it and asking the consumer to also buy a 400 dollar plus vr set. I think Nintendo will wait for it to evolve and for their to be a lot of VR headsets out there and eventually support it once mainstream. They could at that point just support Oculus and Vive and whatever other ones would be non proprietary. It's nice that Sony is supporting it by coming up their own version which their system is actually capable of using but it's not gonna be a massive hit. During the PS4 lifespan i think Sony will be lucky to sell 20 million VR's. And Nintendo isn't gonna do a side project like that. Whatever the NX is it's gonna be fully supported with all nintendo first party and second party software i would think. |
its more than fair. You missed the part where the remote was STANDARD, which in hindsight was a bad idea. Sony (and MS) dont operate that way, it will be an add on so if you want it, you get it. You dont you dont, that way you can play all the game genres you would have played otherwise, with this appraoch it doesnt matter if VR will work with all games anyway. Plus word on the street is the newer Move will work with VR. So they got the control covered.
We're gonna agree to disagree, Ninty has never really operated like that. They always have to be "first" and have an obsession with not copying anyone, so they either wont do VR at all or what they do will be worse that the competition just for the sake of being different. (looking at you WiiSpeak) they kinda halfassed motion controls, i dont expect them to do better with VR, and Sony is in a much better position because they actually have a system that is selling good. And imho these kinds of things NEED to be a side project, thats where the Wii screwed up for me.
