I would have been cool to stick with the wii remote and nunchuck style and just really really improve the technology. But I think it this point that ship has sailed. It's unforetante that the casuals took the wii over and then many core gamers developed ignorant views on the wii remote and nunchuck as a result.  I had always felt that the wii remote and nunchuck was the first step towards virtual reality and am happy to see that Nintendo's ideas living on in Oculus Touch and Move ect.

a good chunk of the sales came from the casuals, so for Ninty its good that they took it over. And what were these ignorant views on Wii? That it didnt work properly? cause it didnt.

No i've seen a lot of truely ignorant views.  People telling me there was no advantage over the traditional gamepad.  I forced someone like that to play Pikmin 3 with a gamepad and then wii remote and nun-chuck and he had to admit the wii remote and nun-chuck was better and more accurate.

In the short term it was good that the casuals took it over but since Apple took over the casuals there was no long term benefit to Nintendo. And the negatives were that many people didn't even try great games that worked well with the controller and that never had the chance to evolve as a result. But at least I'll be able to play games like this in VR where Nintendo's ideas are living on.
