Try spamming forward tilts when you're on the ground instead and use your forward smash by the time your tipper has the potential to kill.

The thing about spacing with Marth is you gotta be moving toward the other person. If you let them come to you, it becomes a lot harder because you're not where you want to be. That's my I try to say mobile with him.

His forward smash is really the only thing I know how to do on the ground. That's why I need to learn those sword combos with him. His F smash is just to laggy to rely on.
