If we are going to include all the games on smartphones when comparing them to Nintendo handheld platforms, we should compare every game on PC to individual consoles, including very popular ones that aren't on steam, like World of Warcraft, Farmville, and others. We will find that consoles lost to PC and are dieing, by the same logic.

LOL not really my friend, not really at all.  Over time the console:PC ratio has remained fairly constant, at least in comparison to the Phone:Handheld ratio.

For Consoles to be "Losing" their marketsize and profit would have to be going down over time - and its not.  On the other hand the handheld market has been shrinking drastically for a long time.

Not if we consider the whole history of PC's vs. home consoles since the 1980's. Smartphones are a new item, relatively. Of course they are going to cut into the handheld market initially. Just as home consoles cut into the PC market when they became big. It doesn't mean handhelds are going to die. There is a large niche that smartphone games do not address. Otherwise 70+ million people wouldn't buy a 3DS.

Also PC gaming has gained marketshare over the last ten years, surpassing consoles.

Costs have risen on consoles, while arguably costs have not on PC due to everything being purely digital. This implies profits are decreasing on consoles and increasing on PC.
