Exactly, I think JJ maybe could have emphasized a bit more that he was wounded, but the dude does bang on his bleeding wound two times. Some people just need every little thing absolutely spelled out for them I guess. 

 

He wasn't trained. He just killed EVERYBODY else Luke was training and made his teacher flee the galaxy instead of confronting him.  That's all.

We don't know how these things happened exactly. But Luke couldn't look straight at Leia and Han anymore and felt he let them both down for how Ben Solo turned. He took it hard on himself and for some reason, thought that going to that old Jedi temple was the best thing for him...

A lot of these things, I assume, will be adressed in the sequels.
