COD FOR CHRISTMAS

21/Dec/2015

‘Call of Duty: Black Ops III’ becomes the 6th Call of Duty game to claim the coveted Christmas No1 as the Top 5 are all non-movers this week.

There were three real contenders this year with newcomer ‘Star Wars Battlefront’ looking to dethrone perennial Christmas chart toppers FIFA and Call of Duty. Sales of Activision Blizzard’s popular shooter jumped by the highest margin out of the three, up 33% compared to Star Wars’ 20% increase and FIFA’s 24% jump in sales. However, ‘Star Wars Battlefront’ does take the honour of EA’s biggest selling title this week, holding on to No2 ahead of ‘FIFA 16’ at No3. A price promotion on ‘Fallout 4’ was not enough for it to crash the party. Despite sales climbing a healthy 44%, it remains at No4. ‘Minecraft: Story Mode’ (+11%) has a solid performance at No5 meaning that ‘Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate’ (+20%) has to settle for a move of one place up to No6 – the first time an Ubisoft title has charted outside the Top 5 in a Christmas Chart week since 2008.

‘Just Cause 3’ (+0%) drops one place to No7, while ‘Grand Theft Auto V’ (+21%) and ‘Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege’ (-2%) are both non-movers at No’s 8 and 9 respectively. A jump of one place is enough to ensure Sony’s ‘Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection’ (+10%) re-enters the Top 10 at No10.
