Beacuse SSBU hasn't reached its sales potential (being castrated by WiiU), also the time and money you need to develop an HD sequel is higher compared to those times. Also Nintendo, imo, has to keep away their studios from cyclical IPs as much as possible.They need resources to develop new unique games (not necessarily new IPs) in order to push NX.
