| Bofferbrauer said: The gap is currently at slightly over 700k consoles in favor of the Wii U. The PS4 did outsell Wii U troughout most of the year, but only by less than 500k. And with the holiday season favoring Wii U by quite some margin, I think the gap at year's end will be around 800k again. Unless Wii U stops selling the PS4 will need to strongly ramp up sales to get past that gap in 2016. |
The only thing I will add is that the Wii U will possibly have its strongest Q1 since 2013 in 2016. To start things off, it will have more momentum coming out of the holiday season which usually determines how well it does in January. Coming off of its holiday launch it took 7 weeks to go under 10k in 2013. Coming off a strong Holiday season in 2013 it took 3 weeks to go under 10k However the 1st week of the year was very strong. In 2015 coming off of a weak Holiday it only took 2 weeks to go under 10k. 2015> 2014 Especially in the Holiday season so I can see the 1st week landing between 30K-51K.
After this the Q1 kicks in and unlike the previous years, Q1 is actually packed with games (for the Wii U standard atleast). The last week of January it gets Mario tennis. 2 weeks after it gets Mighty #9 and the week after Olympic games. In March it gets Both Twilight Princess HD and Pokken with Pokken launchign 1 week after TPHD with a bundle. And Exactly a month after that it Gets Starfox. I'm not saying it will outsell the PS4 but its numbers wont be as low as they were in Previous years for Q1.
