this is a worthless post... nintendo and sony has always had the best standards when it comes to taking care of the consoles... microsoft had a 90 day warranty system for the longest... sony and nintendo have always had a year warranty...

Not exactly worthless in two ways. One, it is one way Sony is trying to get some money back, which will depend on how many faulty systems there are and how many people decide to partake in the service. Two, this isn't exactly a warranty you get when you buy a system, this is something you could get (and cancel) at any time. Like stated in the origonal post, after your current warranty is finially over after X amount of months (or years), you could get this. I think that's quite different from the system having a 1 year warranty when you buy it.
