Otherwise, Banjo/Kazooie, Belmont, and maybe the guys from ninja gaiden or the ghosts and goblins games would be fun. Don't expect any of them.

He can do something else, but there will still be another Smash. It makes Nintendo too much money, so yes they need it every gen. I'm worried about Smash 5 though, since next gen could start as early as next year, and they'll only have just finished Smash 4 DLC, so Smash 5 is probably gonna release pretty late into the NX's life, hopefully not too late.

They don't need to make another smash to make a bunch of money off of it assuming the NX sells well though. As you said, this game is already so huge that I can't imagine they'd have a sequel to top it until quite late into the NX's lifespan.
It seems to me the best course would be to just remaster this one for the NX to help bolster their initial library and also provide ample reason for new adopters to get amiibo. I really don't think we'd see people clamoring for a brand new installment; this one is excellent.
